posted 28 Feb 2017, 03:57 by Rhiannon Macdonald

We are delighted to announce that during March and April our latest project 'Renew Our Outdoor Play Equipment' will be put forward to a customer vote in Tesco Stores. Our current, very old, play equipment has been condemned and we are desperately trying to raise funds for a new exciting outdoor area for our pupils. With your help we now have the chance to win £5,000, if we win the vote. Please share this post with all your local friends and family and make sure you put your green coin in our box!!!

We Are Writers

We are publishing our very own book!

In conjunction with Scholastic’s We Are Writers service, we have put each pupils’ best creative poetry writing into a real paperback. It’s a fabulous opportunity to see your child’s work in print - and each book we sell will raise money for the school.

Copies will be available to buy at our Book Fair for £5.99 and you can buy as many copies as you'd like! They are great to keep as a special memento and make excellent Christmas presents for relatives too!

This project has really inspired our pupils to write and offers them a unique opportunity to see their own writing, published in a real book. This is an achievement they (and you!) can be truly proud of!

Celebrate reading at our Book Fair! Thursday 17th - Tuesday 22nd November, 3.15pm.

Author Visit - 20.09.16

posted 27 Sep 2016, 03:26 by Rhiannon Macdonald

On Tuesday, James Campbell, author of Boyface, visited the school to 'kick start' our Langer Year of Writing. James shared funny poems and stories with all the year groups and gave some top tips for writing. The children were so inspired by James' visit that they have already started writing their own stories at home!
Check out James' website http://www.thejamescampbell.com/ or pop along to the local library and read one of his many books.

Shells and Starfish classes had a surprise on Tuesday morning as a Black London Cab pulled up  in the playground! Jim, a taxi driver in London, was kind enough to bring in his cab for the morning. The children had an opportunity to get in the cab and explore. Jim answered lots of questions from the children. The visit links with our learning about The Great Fire of London.

In order to launch our theme of Fire and Ice, Pebbles, Shells and Starfish had a camp fire. Mrs Richardson explained about a fire triangle - heat, oxygen and fuel and how to be safe around fire. We had toasted marshmallows too! Yum!
