Welcome to Pebbles

Pebbles

Teacher comment

"A very warm welcome to Pebbles Class. My name is Miss O’Reilly and I am the class teacher. Mrs Richardson will also be working in Pebble Class. We are both delighted to have you in our class this year and look forward to sharing every aspect of school life with you and your family. In Pebbles we enjoy learning through play and there are lots of different areas inside and outside of the classroom for you to explore. In Pebbles we like to have fun and enjoy our learning!"

Our curriculum

In Pebble class we deliver a curriculum based on the framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. This describes the seven areas of learning and development which “must be implemented through planned, purposeful play”. These seven areas include the three prime areas:

-Personal, Social Emotional development

-Physical Development

-Communication and Language

They also include the four specific areas:

-Literacy

-Maths

-Understanding the world

-Expressive art and design

The framework also states that “Practitioners must respond to each child’s emerging needs and interests, guiding their development through warm, positive interaction.” We have a fantastic team of adults who put this into practice every day.

Topic

Our topic this term is old and new.  We will be exploring this theme mainly through the stories ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. We will be doing lots of exciting activities including; growing our own plants, doing a gummy bear experiment and having a teddy bear picnic!

Reminders

Children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water into school everyday, these should be clearly labelled and placed on the snack table every morning.

Please try and label all items of your child's clothing (including shoes) as this enables us to find any lost items.

P.E.

Our P.E. day is Thursday. Please ensure your child has a full named P.E. kit including trainers and plimsolls. P.E. kits will be sent home at the end of every half term to be washed. Please ensure children with long hair have their hair tied up. Please ensure earrings are taken out.

Reading

Something very exciting is going to happen this year, you child is going to learn to read! In order to support this, children should be reading every night with an adult. Please read with your child as many times a week as you can and sign their reading diary with a positive comment. Reading diaries are checked every morning by an adult. Children who read with an adult 5 times a week are eligible for entry into the ‘reading challenge’ and have a chance to win a book.

Other Information

WOW assemblies are every Friday at 2:30pm.

We invite all Parents/Carers to our WOW assembly. Each week at least one child per class receives the WOW award for something brilliant they have done that week! This child will also get the opportunity to take home our class monkey ‘Milo’ for the weekend. Please fill in Milo’s Journal so we can find out about his exciting adventures.

Tapestry

Tapestry is an online learning journal which we use to record ‘wow’ moments in your child’s learning. This enables us to build a record of your child's learning during their time in Pebbles Class. As learning happens at home as well as school. this system is accessible for you to view, comment on and add your own observations also. Further details about how to access this will come soon.  https://tapestryjournal.com/
