Helping your child/Homework

Nothing can be more important to the success of an academy than the partnership between parent, child and teacher. By sharing books with children from a young age, by listening to them as they practise reading, by guiding children with spellings and other homework tasks, parents can help children to develop skills and to value learning.

Langer Primary Academy staff recognise that pupils who have spent a busy structured day at school need time to relax and unwind at the end of the afternoon. We are also mindful of the need to encourage children to pursue out-of-school activities. Homework should be used to effectively reinforce and/or extend what is learned in school. We hope that children feel a sense of personal satisfaction in a task completed well and that their efforts will be recognised and praised both at home and at school. Homework tasks should be undertaken to the best of the child's ability. We hope parents and carers will be willing and able to give their active support to ensure that work done at home is completed and in the best possible conditions.

You will receive information about Class Rules and Rewards at the beginning of each academy year, along with a termly curriculum letter to enable you to support your child in their work.
