Sandcastles - Year 3

Welcome to Sandcastles Class

Sandcastles

Teacher comment: The warmer weather is finally on its way! Our topic for the Summer term is Today’s news, tomorrow’s chip paper which will enable us to use and explore our local area. Giving the children the opportunity to find out about some of the history of Felixstowe, the impact of the sea on the coast line as well as having some fun out in the sun. If you have any expert knowledge of Felixstowe then please approach me and I will get you in to talk to the class.

Literacy

Within Literacy we will be using our newly acquired knowledge of the local area to create information texts, develop our understanding of fairy tales and fables as well as continue to expand our word knowledge and application to longer pieces of writing.

Maths

In Maths we will be trying a new way of learning in class which may mean lots of independent investigation and thought when solving maths problems. Our maths work will involve using lots of practical resources before writing anything down. The new mastery flow is enabling children to drive their own learning and push themselves to achieve more within class. This terms focus will be mental calculations and methods to solve problems without writing anything down.

Topic

Our topic this term is Today’s news, tomorrow’s chip paper. It will include local history, geography of the local landscape and science with the formation of rocks. As the topic is local it will mean we can use the local area to enhance our learning.
